Getting Started
Not at all. Our martial arts classes are designed to build your fitness as you learn. Jiu Jitsu fundamentals classes, for example, focus on technique over athleticism, and you'll develop strength, flexibility, and cardio naturally through training. Many of our most skilled practitioners started with zero fitness background.
For gym workouts, bring comfortable workout clothes and clean indoor shoes. For martial arts, wear fitted clothes without pockets, zippers, or loose fabric (a t-shirt and shorts or leggings work well). We provide towels for members. For boxing classes, hand wraps are required (available for purchase at reception).
For general gym access, the minimum age is 16 years old, or 14 if accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18. Our youth martial arts programs cater to children aged 10 and up, depending on the class and maturity of the student.
No sign-up fees at all. Try a day pass first, and if you love it and join the same day, we will take the day pass cost off your membership.
Visitor & Tourist Information
If you’re visiting Queenstown for a week, our short-term passes are a great option. You’ll get full access to the gym, all scheduled classes, and the sauna during your stay. The gym is staffed Monday to Friday from 7am to 9pm, Saturdays from 8am to 4pm, and Sundays from 9:30am to 2:30pm, and visitors can train during these hours. If you’re visiting for a week or longer, we can also set you up with a key tag so you can train outside staffed hours between 4:30am and midnight.
Yes. Day passes are $25 and give you full access to the gym, any classes running that day, and the sauna. No booking required for the gym—just visit reception. For specific classes, it's worth checking the schedule.
A day pass includes unlimited gym access throughout the day, any scheduled classes, sauna use, and access to Fight Science martial arts classes. It's comprehensive access to experience everything we offer.
Yes, we offer 10-day passes at a rate better than buying individual day passes. A 10-visit pass saves $5 per visit compared to casual day rates and is valid for three months from purchase.
We're located in Frankton at 17 Repco Boulevard. The Orbus bus service connects Frankton to central Queenstown, though buses run roughly every hour. Most visitors find having transport makes it easier, but it's absolutely possible to reach us by bus.
Absolutely. Drop-in martial arts visitors are welcome at our Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and boxing classes. If you already train elsewhere, you can jump into appropriate-level classes. If you're new, our fundamentals sessions are perfect for trying martial arts during your visit.
Youth & Family Programs
We offer youth programs in Muay Thai, boxing, and Jiu Jitsu. Classes focus on building skills in a safe, fun environment while teaching values like discipline, respect, and confidence. Our youth coaches are police-vetted and experienced at working with children.
Youth martial arts classes typically start from age 10, depending on the class type and the individual child's maturity. Our Jiu Jitsu program offers kids classes with age-appropriate instruction. Contact us to discuss your child's specific situation.
Beyond physical fitness and self-defence skills, martial arts teaches children discipline, focus, respect for others, and how to handle challenging situations calmly. Many parents notice improvements in their children's confidence, behaviour, and ability to deal with social pressures like bullying—even if bullying isn't currently a problem.
Yes. All instructors working with youth are police-vetted. Our Jiu Jitsu instructors have completed specialised kids coaching certifications, including training with IBJJF Hall of Famer Leticia Ribeiro's kids program.
Parents are welcome to observe classes. We believe transparency is important, and seeing what your child is learning helps reinforce those lessons at home. Our mat area allows good viewing for parents.
Martial Arts & Combat Sports
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art focused on ground fighting and submissions. It's known as 'the gentle art' because technique and leverage overcome size and strength, making it effective for people of all body types. Beyond self-defence, BJJ builds problem-solving skills, body awareness, and mental resilience. Many people describe it as 'physical chess.'
Our Jiu Jitsu program, Te Manawa, is led by Brent and Paula Te Kawa, who are internationally competition-tested black belts and affiliates of 12-time world champion Caio Terra. They've trained extensively worldwide with some of the best practitioners in the sport. All instructors are police-vetted, and we regularly bring in guest instructors from around the world.
Yes. We understand that martial arts can feel intimidating, and we offer women's-only classes where you can learn in a comfortable environment with female instruction. Our female brown belt instructor, Paula Te Kawa, is passionate about getting more women onto the mats.
Boxing focuses on punches only—jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts—using your hands. Muay Thai is known as 'the art of eight limbs' because it uses punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. Both are excellent for fitness, self-defence, and discipline. Many of our members train both.
Yes. Our Fight Science program includes an Amateur Boxing Club for those who want to compete, coached by trainers who hold New Zealand National Titles. Our Jiu Jitsu program supports competition at local, national, and international levels—our coaches believe competition accelerates growth regardless of results.
Initially, no. For Jiu Jitsu, you can borrow a gi (uniform) while getting started. For boxing and Muay Thai, you'll need hand wraps (available at reception) and eventually your own gloves. Mouth guards are compulsory for sparring classes. We stock Te Manawa branded gi, no-gi wear, and athletic apparel.
Classes typically begin with a warm-up focused on mobility and BJJ-specific movements. You'll then learn techniques demonstrated by the instructor, drilling them with a partner. Classes often finish with live rolling (sparring) at appropriate intensity for your level. The atmosphere is supportive—you're learning with your teammates, not against them.
Martial arts at Industrial Fitness prioritises safety. Beginners classes focus on controlled technique, and sparring is optional and supervised. Our instructors are experienced at scaling intensity appropriately. Injuries can happen in any physical activity, but our environment is designed to minimise risk while maximising learning.
Group Fitness Classes
We offer over 40 classes per week including HIIT (high-intensity interval training), boxing fitness, Fight Fit, Boxfit, Muay Thai conditioning, yoga (Vinyasa, Hatha, and Yin/Restorative styles), spin, circuits, bootcamps, and core-focused sessions. There's something for every fitness level and goal.
For popular classes, booking is recommended to secure your spot. You can book online through our scheduling system. Some classes can accommodate drop-ins if space is available, but booking ensures you won't miss out.
Yes, all our classes welcome beginners. Instructors provide modifications and progressions so you can work at your own level. Our coaches are experienced at helping newcomers feel comfortable while still getting a great workout.
Boxing Fitness (Boxfit) is a workout class using boxing movements—great cardio, no contact, suitable for all levels. Fight Science Boxing Club is for those who want to develop technical boxing skills and potentially spar or compete. It includes technique drills, pad work, bag work, and optional sparring.
We offer Vinyasa (flowing, dynamic sequences), Hatha (foundational poses held longer), and Yin/Restorative (deep stretching and relaxation). Yoga at Industrial Fitness focuses on strengthening muscles, improving movement, relieving stress, and bringing balance to your training routine.
HIIT classes feature bursts of intense, dynamic movements with minimal rest between exercises. It's designed to maximise calorie burn and boost your metabolic rate in a short time. Classes are challenging but scalable—you control your intensity level.

Contact us directly about current discounts. We periodically run promotions and may have options for students or those on limited budgets. We believe training should be accessible to the Queenstown community.
Recovery & Wellness
We have sauna facilities for post-workout recovery, included in all memberships and day passes. Our yoga classes (especially Yin/Restorative) provide active recovery. We also have on-site physio services through Back on Track for injury treatment and prevention.
Yes, Back on Track physiotherapy operates on-site at Industrial Fitness. This means you can get professional treatment for injuries or niggles without leaving the facility, and your physio can work with your trainers to support your recovery.
Yoga improves flexibility, mobility, and body awareness—all crucial for performance and injury prevention. It also teaches breathing techniques and mental focus that transfer directly to both strength training and martial arts. Many of our most dedicated members include yoga in their weekly routine.
Sauna use can help with muscle recovery, relaxation, and stress relief. Many members use the sauna after training sessions as part of their recovery routine. It's included in all memberships at no extra cost.
Personal Training
Personal training starts with an Evolt 360 fitness assessment to establish your baseline metrics and set personalised goals. Your trainer then designs a program specific to your needs, whether that's weight loss, strength building, sports performance, or general fitness. Sessions are 60 minutes of focused, expert-guided training.
Our trainers are qualified professionals with diverse specialisations. They combine technical expertise with genuine care for your progress. During your initial consultation, we'll match you with a trainer whose approach fits your goals and personality.
Power membership includes one weekly PT session plus full gym access. For non-members or additional sessions, individual 60-minute sessions are $90. Power members get discounted rates on extra sessions: $80 for a second session in the same week, $70 for a third.
Yes. We offer 30-minute 'Fat Blaster' sessions for those short on time. You handle your own warm-up and cool-down, and your trainer pushes you through an intense, efficient half-hour workout.
The Evolt 360 is a body composition scanner that measures metrics like muscle mass, body fat percentage, and hydration levels. New personal training clients receive a complimentary assessment to establish baseline measurements and track progress over time.
Community & Events
We host community markets, workshops, charity events, and social gatherings throughout the year. Past events have included local arts and crafts markets, wellness workshops, and fundraisers supporting organisations like the Salvation Army Food Bank. We also host martial arts seminars with visiting guest instructors.
Our members consistently describe the community aspect as what sets us apart. The merger of three specialist training communities—Industrial Fitness, Fight Science, and Te Manawa—created something genuine. You'll train alongside people who celebrate your progress, whether you're hitting a new deadlift PR or earning your next belt in Jiu Jitsu.
Yes. Our Fight Science program supports competitive boxers, and our Jiu Jitsu community regularly competes in local, national, and international tournaments. We celebrate our competitors' achievements and provide pathways for those who want to test themselves in competition.
